Happy New Year! I am sure that now that the Holidays are nearly over, the last thing you want to"hear" about is planning for next year!!! I would like to share some tips with you on preparing for next years Holidays,so that you can avoid those dreaded Holiday bills that are inevitably on their way in the mail or online! A good idea is to get an envelope and mark it HOLIDAY GIFT MONEY. Every time you are paid, put money in the envelope. Just $10 a week, with 52 weeks in a year and you have $520 saved for gifts! If you put away $20 per check you would have $1,040 !! This could really help you from having to whip out the plastic to purchase gifts! The other idea,is to obtain a seasonal job or a temporay job. Many companies hire on extra help starting in November or even as early as October. Again, you should be putting that money in the HOLIDAY GIFT MONEY envelope! Hopefully, these tips will help turn the Season of DEBT into the Season of JOY for you next year!!

Susan's La Bella Baskets: Susan's La Bella Baskets: What To Give Each Other-...: Susan's La Bella Baskets: What To Give Each Other- The Long Term Relationshi... : Whether you have been married for a long time or been with...
If like many of us,you received a few gift cards for the Holidays, here are a few tips about using them and keeping them safe! You should put the gift cards in a safe place. Remember, they are just like cash! Just remember to take them with you when you go shopping! It is best to use a specific retailer card as soon as possible. You never know in this economy, whether the store will continue to honor the gift card,if it is about to close or is having financial difficulties! The generic cards, such as Visa,Mastercard,American Express, you can hold on to for something special and usually you can combine them and even combine them with a coupon! The idea is to get the most out of the gift card! You can also re-gift the gift card,or use it to purchase a gift for someone else! If you ordered an e-gift card and you have not gotten a Thank You from the recipient, follow up with a phone call or e-mail. The recipient may have accidentally deleted it or it went into "spam " mail. You should have gotten a receipt for the e-gift card and be able to get your money back. There are gift card thieves out there. Scammers copy gift card numbers and check to see if the card has been used. If you are holding onto a gift card for awhile, periodically check on the balance. Turn the card over and you should find a website, where you can check on the balance. The best thing is to use all of the gift cards you receive as soon as possible! Remember, you can also use them online for purchases, saving you a trip to the Mall!!!

Whether you have been married for a long time or been with a significant other in a long term relationship, you begin to realize that giving a Holiday gift is not so easy anymore. Basically, you really have to become creative and think of new and interesting things to give each other. One thing my husband and I are doing this year, is seeing a show. That is our main gift to each other. I always give my husband jelly bellies and pistachios. I know he likes them, and I can get them from my online store. A gift basket that may have something to do with the person's hobbies,or sports. Maybe they are a Nascar Fan or a Motorcycle rider. Maybe the person is Diabetic or is watching their health. Maybe they are a Chocoholic or love spa bath gifts. Gift Certificates that are generic are also a good idea. This way, the person can purchase what they want. Gift Certificates to a Spa or even to a car wash(usually you can buy them in a book of 10 to 12 washes). You do get to a point in any long term relationship that you realize there is not much you need anymore. That's where you need to "think outside the typical Holiday Gift Giving Box"! Happy Gift Giving!

This year gift giving for the Holidays may be very difficult, if not nearly impossible for some people. If you use your imagination, you can still give a gift for everyone on your list by using your imagination & not your money. Print out your own gift certificates on Holiday themed printing paper and give them out to friends & family. Here are some ideas: babysitting, cooking dinner, cleaning house, running errands, picking up a child at school for a friend. Think of what very basic thing the person could really use help with and give it in the form of a gift certificate or gift coupon that you have printed out. Let's say you have a close relative with young children. Print up babysitting coupons, lets say 12. This way once a month, you can give a "break" by sitting for the children. Just use your imagination and think basics-what could I give this person,in terms of my time and services that would be greatly appreciated as a gift. This will cost you only the paper you print the certificate/coupons on and your time. Not your money!! By the way, these gifts will be appreciated more than you can imagine, by the person you give them to! Happy Gift Giving!

So you met someone new recently and you may have only been dating for a month or so-or a few weeks. Things seem to be moving along. Now, here comes the big question-and it's not "What are you doing New Years Eve?" The question is what do I get this person for a holiday gift? Probably, the two of you need to have a conversation. Maybe you both decide that you will set a certain spending limit. This is advisable, especially in very new relationships. You may have to have a discusssion about certain likes & dislikes, food allergies, make the gift practical or more personal. Have this discussion. You don't want to give a gift that may make the other person feel uncomfortable,or indicate that from your viewpoint the relationship is moving much further along than the other person views it. Remember, open line of communication is the key to any good relationship! So, you might as well start now,and have that heart to heart talk about exchanging gifts between the two of you! By the way, if you are invited to a party hosted by your new love's parents or friends, please bring a host/hostess gift. Perhaps a bottle of wine or something edible that can be shared by everyone! Happy Gift Giving!

When January comes, and it will, that is when you will be facing all those Holiday bills!! Here are some tips that I hope will help. Shop online to avoid being seduced by the holiday music, decorations. Stores and Malls do this on purpose to tempt you. What happens is you get caught up in the moment and overspend. Make a list and the amount you feel comfortable spending and STICK TO IT! Use a credit card, and preferably one that gives rewards back. You can put those rewards towards your balance and pay your balance in full when the bill comes! If you do go to a Mall or store, be prepared to be approached by very persuasive sales people.Do not be pushed into buying something you can't afford! Happy Gift Giving!

When the Holiday Spirit hits the office, and the office party is planned, many people can really hit the panic button when it comes to giving a gift to a co-worker or a boss! Here are some helpful tips. Make sure you know what your company's policy is on gift giving. For instance are there spending limits. Find out if every one in your department gets a gift for everyone else,or maybe they draw names. Choose something tasteful.Consider buying a gift that might be used in the office such as: a photo frame, calendar or a nice pen set or coffee mug. Gourmet food items are also a good bet. Find out if any one has a food allergy before giving an eatable gift. Take time to wrap the gift in an attractive way-either in a gift bag or wrapped and a nice bow attached. Overspending is a no no. Also "Joke" or " Gag" gifts can offend. If you are re-gifting an item, make sure it is in good condition. Don't give anything that is of a personal nature-like a bottle of Perfume or an After Shave set. Also,it is best to stay clear of giving Alcoholic beveridges of any kind. Don't give flowers or cash- these may be misconstrued as having a hidden agenda or a "come on". If you are expected to give to everyone,do not leave anyone out. This can cause hard feelings, and in the workplace hard feelings can be difficult to over come! Hope these tips are helpful! Today is Cyber Monday and a lot of people will shop online. Here are some tips! Know the retailer. Review the website before placing an order, and look for the address & phone number to make sure the company is legitimate. Make sure you understand the return policies and cancellation of order policies. Also, find out if the comapny will be sharing your information. You can have the company not share your information. Companies that you have ordered from before, make sure you are on their newsletter e-mail list. The company will send you discount checkout promo codes. These can save you MONEY! Make sure you order early and know the shipping times. You should get an e-mail with a shipping tracking number sent to you, once your order has shipped. PRINT THIS OUT and save it with your original order confirmation! Pay with a credit card. The credit card company will help you if you have a dispute with the online retailer. A debit card will not help you if you have a problem. If a online retailer insists on a check or money order BEWARE, the retailer is more than likely going to cash that check/money order and you will never get the items you ordered! Save all the records the company e-mails you, from order confirmation to tracking information, print everything out! Happy Gift Giving!

small little gifts that go in those stockings hung by the firplace can be a nice opportunity to add a little something extra! For children you can put in little toys, crayons,a yoyo,a small activity or coloring book. For a teen, some makeup items or a gift card or some cash in a nice Holiday money holder. For an adult,a gift card, cash in a money holder, and gift certificates or even a calendar. This does not have to be expensive. I find going to a dollar store or a craft type store, you can easily find some items to stuff those stockings! Happy Gift Giving!

Today there are so many ways to "wrap" a gift! Besides the tradtional gift wrap, gift bags that you can buy at a store, come with tissue paper & a tag are a great alternative. You can also put a gift in a hat box or a decorative box. In other words-think outside the wrap! This will make your gift very special, and could be used by your recipient for storage or display. There are also a lot of gift bags that come in many different fabrics-Felt with Holiday decorations on them. Velvet gift bags in red, gold, silver or green make an elegant presentation for your gift and can be used later as Holiday Decor or hung on a Christmas Tree as an ornament. To find these items look in dollar stores and craft stores. This is where you will probably pay the least amount of money. If you do choose the wrapping paper, check to make sure how much is on the roll that you are buying. Also you will need a box, tissue paper & that all important tape!!! So, really make an impression with your gift presentation! Happy Gift Giving!!

Susan's La Bella Baskets: Shipping Your Gifts!! The easy or hard way?!!!: If you use an online retailer you can have the gift shipped directly to your recipient. Especially, during the Holidays it is very important ...
If you use an online retailer you can have the gift shipped directly to your recipient. Especially, during the Holidays it is very important to make sure you know the cut-off dates,so that your gift will arrive on time. For example, at my online store the cutoff date is December 15th to guarantee delivery on time for Christmas! If it does not matter to you when the gift arrives, you can still order after the cutoff date. But, make sure you know what it is! Most online retailers have promotions going on. I am offering a 10% off everything in my store till November 30th. Make sure you use the promo code. Otherwise, the retailer will not give you the discount. Make sure you have the phone number for the retailer,in case your gift is lost or damaged. The retailer should replace your order free of charge. That is the beauty of online shopping, because the retailer will put in a claim with the shipping company and be refunded ,the retailer can replace the gift free of charge! Now,if you are buying a gift and shipping it yourself, here are some tips! Wrap the gift in gift wrap & put a name tag on it, who the gift is for. Take it to the Post Office or a UPS or FedEx store. You will have to pay for the shipping box and you should pay insurance on the value of the gift. Watch as the gift is placed in the box. Make sure it is bubble wrapped and has plenty of packing"peanuts"-those little styrofoam pieces. This will protect the gift. Make sure you get a receipt and a tracking number. The online retailer will e-mail you a tracking number once your gift has been shipped! So by now, you have been to the store, bought the gift, maybe paid extra for gift wrapping, drove to the shipping store, waited in line, watched them pack the gift, got your receipt and headed home EXHAUSTED!! Why not simplify your life and shop online and have the gift(s) shipped directly? The choice is yours! If you would like to avoid this,go to my online store. You will find OVER 400 Gourmet & High Quality gifts for the HOLIDAYS & EVERY OCCASION!! Here are some tips on gift giving. Make sure you review your list every year. Sometimes relationships have changed! Don't feel obligated to match what other's spend.Stick to your budget. For workplace gifts, make sure to know your company's policies.Again, include that most important gift receipt! If you are going to give money to people ,such as your hair dresser or manicurist-the rule of thumb is to double the amount of the usual tip you give. If someone surprises you with a gift and you have no gift to give in return-simply thank the giver and honestly explain how surprised you were and appreciative, but that you don't have a gift in return. Then add the person to your list next year. Don't arrive at a Holiday gathering or party empty handed. Bring a bottle of wine or an edible gift that all can share. Thank you notes used to be only handwritten. Nowadays, e-mailing is an acceptable alternative. Times have changed. You still can send the handwritten Thank You notes if you wish. Re-gifting is very common these days. The re-gifted item should not be homemade or made especially for you. The item should be unused,in it's original packaging and have all the previous wrappings & tags removed. Don't re-gift to friends & family who have a habit of returning items. You just might be asked for that gift receipt-how embarrassing! Above all make sure the original giver and the new recipient will never cross paths!! Hope these tips are helpful!!! Happy Gift Giving!!!

Holiday shopping time at Malls & even Outlet Stores can make you a prime target for theives! Make sure you are aware of your surroundings at all times! Park & Lock your car! When bringing packages back to your car,put them in the trunk and out of site. Men should put their wallets in a front pocket. Women drap your shoulder bag around you. What ever you do, keep your credit cards in a protective cover. Yes, a person with a device can pass you by and get all your credit card information. Make sure you keep your receipts separate from your purchases. If heaven forbid, your purchases are stolen you have the receipts! It is truly ashame that there are people out there preying on Holiday Shoppers. Don't become a victim, use common sense!!

I believe that gift giving ,with thoughtfulness go together and are appreciated by the receiver! You should always give a gift that you will be proud to give & your recipient will be just as proud to receive! During the Holiday rush, sometimes just to "get it over with" becomes the goal of Holiday shopping. I love to go and view all the decorations & lights. I don't like getting caught up in the rush! I want to really take my time and make sure I am giving a gift that will be truly appreciated ! Not just something that the receiver will be left exchanging! One thing is make sure when buying a gift, you get a gift return receipt and enclose it with the gift. Some people choose to give gift cards.I always like the generic ones best-such as a Visa,Mastercard or American Express. These can be used everywhere!! I have always loved to shop online! It saves time & gas and you can have it wrapped & delivered or sent to yourself to give to a person! I think that's why I have an online store. Holiday time can be very stressful! You can simplify your busy life by shopping online! But, be cautious! Always use a credit card and never use a debit card. Why? With a credit card ,if you have a problem, the credit card company will step in and help you. A debit card cannot give you that service! Right now my online store is offering 10% off the entire store till Nov.30th!
